Default DS Games

Hi guys,

A friend of mine who owns a little game hire store is getting rid of a lot of his multiple copies of DS games. I have a DS, but I'm often wary of what games I get because so many of them totally suck.

Can anyone recommend any good games that are on the market at the moment that I could grab off him while they're going?

I heard FFT A2 required you to do over 200 missions or some crazy number...

i started a couple days ago and it's loads of fun. it has made me play less guild wars! lol

if building multiple characters, upgrading equipment, and turn-based strategy are your thing go get it. nice cartoony graphics too

I enjoyed playing Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.
I think the game in question is Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2.

FFTA2 is a great game, I highly recommend it if you have the means.
Zelda:PH was good too, although the sailboat thing got kinda old back with windwaker, so I wasn't happy with the game overall. Also take a look at the remakes that are starting to hit the DS. I know FF:IV just came back with a substantial face lift and some extra content, and Chrono Trigger is on its way later this year if you can wait until thanksgiving. There's also a new game out called The World Ends With You, which I've heard the original devs from Kingdom Hearts really pulled through with something unique.

Now those are all RPGs, but there are definitely some strong contenders from other genres, the Resident Evil: Deadly Silence remake, The new Super Mario Bros, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Yoshi's Island DS, Advanced wars: DS, and, of course, Mario Kart DS.

I'd recommend FFTA2 as well, along with Disgaea DS, FF:IV, Advanced Wars: Dual Strike, Advanced Wars: Days of Ruin, and Elite Beat Agents.

The DS is awesome.
hmmm Zelda, FF4, animal crossing(THATS RIGHT!), lego starwars and batman are really fun Oh Mario Kart and advance wars are great too .

I got lots of others too^_^

There are some really crappy DS games, but the good ones make up for it.

I'm playing FFIII so I can say I've beaten every FF save for the online game.

Argh, so many stupid JRPG's. It really depends on what you are trying to get out of the NDS. I like puzzles and things like that, so I play Sudoku games and brain train.

Since FPS and RTS controls are limited on the system, it's dominated by the third major non-sport category, RPGs. The DS is also owned by Nintendo so it makes sense that a majority of the games for it are from Japanese publishers. As well as the capabilities of the system itself kinda limit the ability to play the western rpgs (oblivion/system shock/KotOR type games) leaving the console to be dominated by the less demanding turn based game play of the old console giants, the JRPG.
It all kinda comes together, adhering the genre's dominance on the DS. So yeah, "so many JRPGs"... anyway, Soduko is a waste of the DS's capabilities, and brain train has no real puzzle solving to it, just the repetition of elementary school math and other various mini games that. But, through the repeticious play, you are substantially increasing your brain's power to handle the mini game you've been practicing for the last two weeks. -_-
If the OP is really after puzzles, try a different platform, as there's very little the DS offers currently in that genre.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (Yes I know it is Pokemon but I have to admit it is kinda fun. However, I never had a Gameboy color or any type of Gameboy until I got my Advance and then DS Lite, so I never really played any Pokemon game before...)

Also don't forget that the DS is Japan's best selling current gen console and that the PS3 and 360 haven't caught on so much over there. Thus the JRPG developers are focusing on the DS because it is so popular.

Yeah, I'm a puzzler too. I have games like bust a move, puzzle quest, sodoku, tetris ds etc so far. Don't get me wrong, I love the RPG side as well, but DS is great for switch off -waiting-for-the-bus puzzle games.

Thanks again for your suggestions guys.

Only reason the DS RPGs are popular at all or have any game play are because of "100% completion".
